Indulge in the beauty of my home country: Namibia.

There is so much to see, from the abundance of wildlife to the vast landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Excited? Let’s go for a scroll.

Remember, your Safari is tailor-made to your wishes and needs, this itinerary is just to give you a feeling of how a Safari with Three Little Birds could look like, and to spark your anticipation - which is already part of the joy of an holiday, isn’t it?

Safari Guest Farm Düsternbrook

My home

Arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, where I will pick you up. Then we will drive to Windhoek, the capital of our country.

Once we reach Windhoek, first things first, we will have breakfast at one of my favorite places. After breakfast we will head out to the place I am honored to call home:

Safari Guest Farm Düsternbrook.

It is time to unwind from the flight and to slowly arrive in Africa.

First days in Africa

My premise is to take it slow the first few days, waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying breakfast on our veranda overlooking the dry riverbed that flows next to our farmhouse.

During the day you can relax by the pool and participate in some of our many activities such as horseback riding, game drives, mountain drives, hiking or the leopard feeding.

TimBila Nature Reserve

The place of second chances

A few hours north we will reach our first destination, TimBila Nature Reserve.

A slight change of vegetation will await us, as well as the chance to see lions, elephants and the rare species of Wild Dogs.

TimBila actively protects wildlife, especially conflict animals, by providing a safe haven. Lions, driven by hunger into human areas, were translocated to the reserve, ensuring their survival. Elephants, African Wild Dogs and Rhinos also found refuge here, safeguarded by a vigilant anti-poaching unit. TimBila is known to be the place of second chances, that is why it made it on our list.

Mowani mountain camp

Damaraland

Heading east, we experience a remarkable change in vegetation - from the Namibian bushveld to the prehistoric-looking desert landscapes of the Damaraland.

The Mowani Lodge blends perfectly into the rock formations on the hill.

Because of it's unique setting - the unreal colors during sunset/rise - and its outstanding service, it is one of my personal top three, a lodge I recommend to everyone visiting Namibia.

At Mowani we will have the opportunity to go on a cruise through the dry river Huab to see rare desert-adapted Elephants. The area is also famous for its UNESCO World Heritage listed historic rock paintings.

Swakopmund

back to civilization

After driving southwest through the desert, we reach an oasis of civilization on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean: the historic beach town of Swakopmund.

Swakop (as the locals call it) is perfect for a few days away from the wilderness. Here we will enjoy relaxing strolls through the city center, which offers a wide variety of local handicrafts and fashion boutiques. Good coffee is always a stone's throw away, as good food is. Aside from strolling the city, Swakop has a wide variety of activities, such as: dolphin boat cruises, sandwich harbor tours, the little five desert tour, skydiving, paragliding, surfing, and many more.

The Pearls

Swakopmund

While in Swakopmund we will have a variety of options where to stay, all with their own peacks. One of my favorites is the new Pearls, which is exactly where you want to be in Swakopmund, right on the beach for a quick dip in the ocean, as well as brilliant sunset views from the terrace. All this while being in the center of town, with almost everything within walking distance.

Wolwedans

Namib Rand Private Reserve

Heading south from lovely Swakopmund, we will leave civilization behind and enter the rugged and vast south of Namibia, famous for its red dunes. Passing through the Namib Naukluft Park we reach a small town called Solitaire. Here in the middle of nowhere we will try Solitaire's famous apple pie

- I am not kidding.

Further south we reach our destination Wolwedans. A desert paradise on the edge of the Namib Rand Private Reserve, where you can enjoy the tranquil beauty of the of the oldest desert in the world.

Wolwedans is also famous for pioneering sustainable travel in Namibia.

HIGHLIGHT

Sossusvlei

One of the absolute highlights and what Namibia is famous for is Sossusvlei.

Loved by photographers for its distinctive play of colors between the dark dead trees and the red dunes, as well as the sharp edge shadows,

Sossusvlei is unique in the world.

Being in the desert, it gets very hot during the day, so we will leave Wolwedans at sunrise to enjoy the beauty of Sossousvlei in amber colors and pleasant temperatures.

Red Dunes Lodge

Another day, other desert

From Wolwedans we head north-east on what we call gravel roads, you may be more familiar with the term 'dirt roads', to Namibia's second desert, the Khalahari. Here at the Khalahari Red Dunes Lodge we will enjoy another change of scenery. Activities such as hiking, mountain biking or game drives connect you once again with the grace of the land.

The Lodge, powered 100% by solar energy,  has the treat of a cigar and whisky lounge, as well as an excellent kitchen.

Hosea Kutako
International Airport

Departure

The day of departure has (sadly) come.

After a last breakfast within the Khalahari, we drive north to the capital Windhoek.

Here we enjoy lunch, have the opportunity to buy the last souvenirs and then drive out of the Hosea Kutako International Airport (WHK) in the evening.

There is a lot to comprehend, which will take some time, believe me, so many new impressions.

Back home you will arrive relaxed with a fresh tan, a smile on your face and a lot of experiences to share.

Now the time of the retroperspective joy begins.
