Safari Guest Farm Düsternbrook
My home
Arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, where I will pick you up. Then we will drive to Windhoek, the capital of our country.

Once we reach Windhoek, first things first, we will have breakfast at one of my favorite places. After breakfast we will head out to the place I am honored to call home:
Safari Guest Farm Düsternbrook.
It is time to unwind from the flight and to slowly arrive in Africa.
First days in Africa
My premise is to take it slow the first few days, waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying breakfast on our veranda overlooking the dry riverbed that flows next to our farmhouse.

During the day you can relax by the pool and participate in some of our many activities such as horseback riding, game drives, mountain drives, hiking or the leopard feeding.
TimBila Nature Reserve
The place of second chances
A few hours north we will reach our first destination, TimBila Nature Reserve.
A slight change of vegetation will await us, as well as the chance to see lions, elephants and the rare species of Wild Dogs.

TimBila actively protects wildlife, especially conflict animals, by providing a safe haven. Lions, driven by hunger into human areas, were translocated to the reserve, ensuring their survival. Elephants, African Wild Dogs and Rhinos also found refuge here, safeguarded by a vigilant anti-poaching unit. TimBila is known to be the place of second chances, that is why it made it on our list.
Onguma - The Fort
Etosha National Park
The further north we go, the more the landscape changes. Just east of Namibia's famous Etosha National Park lies the private reserve of Onguma.

One of the lodges on the reserve is The Fort. Built in the theme of a Moroccan castle, it is defenitly something to write home about.
Honestly, one of my personal favorites! I won't spoil it for you, but the setting, the game drives, the food, the staff - everthing is simply on point.
Hakusembe River Lodge
Okavango River
As we continue north, we will pass through some of the more populated parts of the country.

Our destination for the day is nestled on the banks of the Okavango and will give you your first taste of the wildlife of one of Africa's mighty rivers.
Hakusembe is a lovely stopover on our way to the wild wetlands of the Zambezi region of Namibia.
Divava
Bwatawata National Park
Following the Okavango to the east, we will reach Divava. Here we will have the opportunity to go on a boat safari, the way to go in the north, to soak up the beauty of Namibia's lush and plentiful wetlands
- especially with a Gin and Tonic in hand at sunset.

Divava also offers several treatments at its spa. The perfect time to relax and rejuvenate from the hours spent in the car to get to this magical place.
Nambwa tented lodge
Bwatawata National Park
Just a stone's throw away is our next destination, Nambwa, which deserves the title of being a Tree House. Enchantingly situated next to the Bwatawata National Park, we can explore local villages, go on game drives and more boat cruises.
From the breakfast and dinner decks, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Okavango wetlands, accompanied by the soothing sounds of its inhabitants.
These are truly the moments when you forget the stresses of home and enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes from being surrounded by nature and good company.
The victoria falls hotel
Victoria falls
At our final destination, the Victoria Falls, we will stay at the historic hotel "The Royal Victoria Falls", which was built in 1904, making it one of the oldest hotels in Africa. The interior is still in the style of the British exploration era.

From the garden of the hotel we will enjoy the magnificent view of the mighty Victoria Falls, and in keeping with British tradition, we will enjoy a High Tea or yet another Gin & Tonic.

On your last days in Africa (for now) we will enjoy the Victoria Falls through small hikes, viewpoints as well as a variety of activities around the falls.
Victoria falls
international airport
Departure
The day of departure has (sadly) come. After a last hearty breakfast with a view of the falls, I will drive you to the Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA).
There is a lot to comprehend, which will take some time, believe me, sooo many new impressions.

Back home you will arrive relaxed with a fresh tan, a smile on your face and a lot of experiences to share.
Now the time of the retroperspective joy begins.
